How it works
What is wholesale energy purchasing?
Why is this advantageous?
How does it work in practice?
Are savings guaranteed?
How much does this cost?
Energy producers trade their energy as a commodity in a wholesale market. Traditional suppliers buy from this market - but so can other organisations. The minimum energy consumption requirement for a business to trade on this market is 50 GWh per annum. By combining the energy consumption of a number of businesses in a portfolio arrangement, Inenco, the UKs' largest energy consultancy, will trade the portfolio as a notional company and thereby bring the advantages of the wholesale market to smaller organisations. Since 2003, when Inenco first moved clients on to the wholesale market, the demand for this service has grown massively, and Inenco now has £1 billion of energy under management for a number of 'blue chip' companies and many other organisations including some major charities.

Inenco and Utility Aid have now formed a partnership which will enable a much wider group of charities to access the benefits of wholesale energy purchasing.
