British Gas says Gas use up 18% on cold weather

UKinbound Checks In With Utility Aid!

UKinbound, the only trade association that represents the UK’s inbound tourism industry, has connected with Utility Aid to provide energy saving services to its members.

The primary aim of UKinbound is to help its members manage successful, profitable and sustainable businesses.  Members include hotel chains Hilton Worldwide and Marriott Hotels, attractions such as Longleat and St Paul’s Cathedral as well as tour operators, restaurants and travel agents.

UKinbound has recognised the value of partnering with Utility Aid to address the needs of the business community in becoming more energy aware, efficient and sustainable.  William Campbell, Commercial director said,

Big Assist is a programme for infrastructure organisations in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector; delivered under contract to the Big Lottery Fund by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). The programme works to support infrastructure organisations based in England, to be more efficient, effective, sustainable and better able to adapt to the current and future operating environment.

Infrastructure organisations can apply for an award to exchange through an online market place for support of their choice delivered through consultancy, training, coaching and e-learning across a range of topics.

The BIG Assist online market place provides access to suppliers of support. Suppliers are from both the voluntary and private sector and are approved as Big Assist suppliers if they can demonstrate they have experience of delivering quality support to the sector in one or more of the topic areas.

Big Assist provides a whole range of wider opportunities for infrastructure organisations: peer to peer support through sponsored visits and mentoring, a large events programme and online learning events, forums and resources.

Boxing Clever With Utility Aid

Sleaford boxing hero, Amir Unsworth, has been training hard for his second appearance in the London Marathon, raising funds to support the work of the Mercian Regiment Benevolent Charity and the Outward Bound Trust.  The MRB assists injured service personnel and the OBT helps young people reach their potential through outdoor activities.

Utility Aid is pleased to announce that they have recently become kit sponsors for the event.  Elaine Elsdon, New Business Manager   said, “Utility Aid is pleased to support Amir Raise funds for two such important and worthwhile charities.  The company is already committed to supporting those with disabilities get back into work through our Charity Utility Initiative.  We already have an understanding of the barriers that people with disabilities face and we are always looking for opportunities to assist people in a practical way.  Working together will raise the profile of what we are both achieving in this area.  We wish Amir every success.”

Government Energy policies helping to reduce bill rises

Government policies on energy efficiency and climate change are helping to reduce the rise in gas and electricity bills, a report has said. By 2020, bills will be 11% – or £166 – lower than they would otherwise have been, according to the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s report. The report said policies could add costs to bills – but overall they help cushion households against rises. Full story at the following  BBC News link

Utility Aid is working with United Utilities Scotland to help save Scottish customers money on their water bills.

“Saving could not be easier” said Louise Duffy Regional Manager at UA Scotland.  “All clients need  do is send their most recent bill for each of their sites and we will negotiate a saving which may help reduce the effects higher energy bills are having.   To date we have found that most customers are able to save at least 10% on their water costs.”

UK gas prices surge on supply fears

The price of wholesale gas surged to a record high on Friday after the unexpected closure of one of three import pipelines. A technical fault at the UK-Belgian interconnector, one of the UK’s biggest import pipelines, forced the shutdown. Energy Invoice Validation Service has now reached a staggering £230,000 savings for our customers

Since April 2011 Utility Aid, in partnership with Team Energy have helped to recover over £230,000 on behalf of the charity sector. Utility Aid do not take any percentage of these savings and all refunds are paid directly to the charity by the energy supplier. From their experience, Utility Aid know that around 50% of energy invoices are estimated and around 15% incorrect. Many invoicing errors are often complex and can easily go un-noticed which can be costly to an organisation, the validation service offered by Utility Aid gives peace of mind that these errors will be recognised and dealt with in a timely manner.
