As the energy partner to The Sport and Recreational Alliance, Utility Aid was delighted to sponsor the “Green Thinking Award” at the 20th Annual Sport and Recreation Awards, held recently at St James’s Palace, London. The event was hosted by Alliance President, HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
The winners, Hammerswich Cricket Club, Staffordshire, were awarded a prize of £1,000 and a plaque to commemorate their achievements. The “HCC Goes Green” project has seen the installation of a new boiler and lighting system as well as a waste recycling initiative. Eventually the club hope to be carbon neutral.

Somebody Cares, a charity based in Aberdeen that provides food, furniture and clothing to local people in need will be £250 better off thanks to a donation by Grampian Housing Association. Mrs Rae Munro of Grampian Housing Association won the £250 prize draw offered by Utility Aid at the Scottish Federation of Housing Association’s Annual conference recently. The Board of Grampian Housing Association has generously decided to donate the money to this worthy cause. William Campbell, Commercial Director who attended the conference said “I am thrilled that an organisation such as Somebody Cares will be the recipient of the money from the prize draw and I am certain that it will be put to good use.”
