Out and About

Well it's been another amazing but very cold week! I have literally travelled the length and breath of the country visiting some amazing people, and it's only week 2.

Monday saw me visit British Gas, our headline sponsors for the Nicest Job, in Leicester. It was really great meeting the team looking after NJIB and discussing the amazing ideas they have to help drive this year forward by contributing to UA's 'Do More Good' ethos to help charities across the country. I then travelled to Staines on Tuesday, to be with British Gas again to expand on our original ideas. Interestingly for me I went to university just outside Staines in Egham. It is also where my sister is currently studying her finals so as a little treat and good deed myself I headed over to see her and took a lovely bunch of flowers with me!

Wednesday saw me in Birmingham where I caught up with VIVA to discuss the week so far before jumping on a train to Glasgow. Whilst on the train I had a lovely conversation with a lady called Gill who was on her way back from work. Gill and I ended up chatting about my work with UA and my blog the Good Deed Diary. She was totally blown away with all the good work that had been done which is always so lovely to hear. I arrived in Glasgow, where the temperature was low and the rain was heavy and headed over to the hotel to get settled in for the night.

Thursday I battled through the wind and rain to get to UA's Glasgow office. The team there truly are a lovely bunch. We ended up chatting for about 3 hours and I got to know everybody and their roles within the company. I was inspired by the way the whole team gave up their Christmas Eve to go and volunteer at a local food bank in Glasgow. They headed over to Lodging House Mission to help prepare and hand out the wonderful Christmas food to around 50 people in need. It's so great to hear about UA actively 'doing more good' and living out this ethos. Every single employee I have met whole-heartedly believes in what UA do and the organisations and people they help. Down to taking time out of their own holiday to go and help others in need. So this week, the Glasgow team and their amazing personal efforts to help on a personal level inspire me.

Then today, Friday, sees me sat on a train leaving the very snowy Glasgow behind to head home to see my little doggy and spend some time preparing for my first charity next week, Resources for Autism. I am so excited to get on the front line with my first charity and really do my best to give some added value to them and the amazing people they support. I have a feeling its going to be an emotional week.
