Rob Silvester joins the company as Business Development Director

Utility Aid is pleased to announce that Rob Silvester has joined the business as Business Development Director, effective 13 April 2026.

Rob joins at a pivotal time for both the energy market and the organisations we support. With rising commodity costs, increasing regulatory complexity and evolving compliance requirements, the need for clear, value-driven energy strategies has never been greater.

In his role, Rob will lead the development of new capabilities across Consumption Reduction and Net Zero, alongside Wholesale/Flex and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). He will also play a strategic role in expanding Utility Aid’s digital reach, increasing engagement with its switching site and supporting the growth of supplier-funded services.

Rob brings significant experience from SSE, where he held a number of senior leadership positions. His expertise spans commercial strategy, market development and building high-performing teams in complex energy environments.

Giles Hankinson, CEO, commented:

To have someone of Rob’s calibre join Utility Aid at this stage in our journey is a real positive. His experience and insight will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our services and create new opportunities to support our customers. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.

Rob Silvester, Business Development Director, commented:

I’m honoured to be stepping into Utility Aid as Business Development Director. Since my first interaction with UA over ten years ago, its purpose-led approach and great people have always stood out. We are at a pivotal moment for many organisations navigating rising costs, regulatory change and uncertainty. There is a real opportunity to help customers respond in a logical and value-accretive way, while continuing to grow and diversify our own proposition. I’m looking forward to working with the team to bring new and innovative solutions to market.

Utility Aid continues to expand its capabilities as it strengthens its position as a trusted partner to charities and not-for-profit organisations, helping them navigate an increasingly complex energy landscape and secure better outcomes.
